Gallery Jacket (Adriana)

The Gallery Jacket is ready to be revealed! Sorry for the delay, there was the little matter of finishing off the semester which required my attention :P

Here it is posed with my great aunt's gorgeous painting which belongs in an art gallery :)

I like how versatile this sweater is. I can wear it closed (as above) or open. I also tried pinning it higher up like Julie did with hers. It looks good no matter what I do with it :)

Details:
Pattern: Gallery Jacket from WEBS designed by Cirilia Rose
Yarn: Valley Yarns Colrain (coincidentally also from WEBS)
Date started: early November?
Date finished: December 1, 2007
Modifications: the biggest one is that I made it with long sleeves. I knew I wouldn't wear it with short sleeves so I just kept knitting. Oy! Sleeves take a long time to knit. It felt like they went on forever. The 1x1 ribbing got tiring pretty quickly as well. But I am so happy with the end result that it was all worthwhile.
The Colrain knit up gorgeously. It's soft and shiny (due to the tencel). I don't know how well it will wear but I definitely want more.

By the way, I seem to have mislead you in my previous post. I don't have classes until March but I don't have three months vacation. I will be doing an internship at the local orchestra for January and February as part of my program. I'm very excited about it. I'm sure that it will be a fantastic experience.

I'm at my parents' right now and I was finally able to get pictures of the finished log cabin blanket, but that will wait for another day (I'm trying to draw out the blog fodder :P)

Done! (Adriana)

This is what being finished looks like:

Here you see the completed Gallery Jacket posed with my marketing campaign which signifies the end of school! (until March)
(You can also see the toes of my Trekking Socks which kept my feet nice and warm on this freezing cold day)

I am now off to celebrate school being done by visiting my parents for 4 days, leaving Pete to wrangle the crazy cat (who has been especially nutty tonight). I'll try to blog soon with pictures of the Gallery Jacket in action (maybe even at a gallery!).

WIPs (Adriana)

Not too much to report these days; school really is eating up all my knitting time. I have managed to make a little progress on a couple of projects during tv time.

The pattern is from WEBS and coincidentally I'm using their house brand of yarn for it! So far it's an easy knit (1x1 ribbing) which makes it nice and mindless but 14 inches of this is disheartening.

I'm also working on Granny's Christmas Socks which have been renamed Santa Fe socks because of their colours and because Granny is there right now! (Or perhaps not. I'm not sure when her plane arrives)

If you recall last time I knit socks for Granny I used a provisional cast-on, knit the foot, picked up the stitches and knit the leg. This time around I went toe-up, adapting the toe for Granny's preferences. Hopefully she won't notice a difference :)
I'm tag-teaming the socks, knitting the foot on one, then the other, then knitting 6" inches of the leg, before I put them both on two circs to do the calf increases at the same time. I am kicking myself for losing my notes from the last socks. This time I'm writing it down on a computer file and will put up on Ravelry.

That's it for me today. I'm off to the gym, then for groceries and then back to the computer to do work. There's so much to do and such a short time to do it in.
Happy Friday!
